Baltic Handball League
The Board of Baltic Handball League (BHL) has thoroughly analyzed all aspects of the wide spread of the COVID-19 virus and its impact in the countries involved in BHL. We have also discussed the situation with all participating clubs, still in competition of the 2019/20 season.
After an emergency meeting of the Board of Baltic Handball League (BHL), it has been decided to postpone the matches of this weekend in BHL. Therefore the second legs of quarter-finals Cocks Riihimäki – HC Kehra/Horizon Pulp&Paper, Dragunas Klaipeda – Serviti Põlva and ZRHK Tenax Dobele are all postponed.
First legs of the quarter-finals in the 2019/20 Baltic Handball League provided exactly what was expected – some very exciting matches, loads of emotions and drama. Curiously, all the away teams won and thus Cocks Riihimäki, ZRHK Tenax Dobele and Dragunas Klaipeda have an advantage going into the second leg, played at home.
Three pairs, six teams and only three places available for the 2019/20 Baltic Handball League's Final Four – this is what will be at stake inside the next nine days. BHL quarter-finals will start this weekend with the return legs played a week later. SKA Minsk secured a place in the Final Four after winning the Group A of the regular season.
Last week brought good news for VHC Šviesa Vilnius ahead of their Baltic Handball League quarter-final tie against ZRHK Tenax Dobele. This season's BHL Group B winner claimed the Lithuanian Cup seven years after they last triumphed in the competition. Another of the BHL quarter-finalists, BHL title-holder Cocks changed coach midway through the last week.
The 2019/20 regular season of the Baltic Handball League had its ups and downs, but it saved the best for last. Both group winners were determined on the final day in the head-to-head matches. SKA Minsk defeated ZRHK Tenax Dobele to take the first spot in the Final Four, while HC Kehra/Horizon Pulp&Paper and VHC Šviesa Vilnius played a draw, which was enough for the Lithuanians to finish top of Group B.
